Sydney White came in at a disappointing #6 at the weekend box office, making a tiny $5,323,000. Resident Evil made $24 million and Good Luck Chuck netted $14 million.
This is Amanda's lowest starring role opening ever. The film might barely make enough money to cover its $16.5 million budget.
If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to try to catch a screening at your local theater. I saw on it Saturday and I really liked it. It's one of Amanda's best and funniest movies so far. There are even some emotional bits. It's nothing offensive like in other comedies, only a movie to make you laugh and feel good. People in the theater seemed to really enjoy it so you don't want to miss it. Go see it!

Some possible good news:
1) SW rated 2nd in Yahoo's movie buzz log, based on clicks on Yahoo movies.
2) SW is rated 8th in Yahoo's movies in theatre user ratings.
3) Lots of 'parent rating movie' blogs are rating SW high because of good story message and content.
Maybe word of mouth will spread. It has to - we know the movie studio is not properly promoting it. I watch reruns of WILAY on CW, and they don't even have SW commercials. I think the studio decided not to promote it, for whatever reasons, so it will be up to AB fans to get the word out...
